Our Mission and Purpose

Wildcare Alice Springs Inc is a volunteer-run registered charity operating across the vast, arid landscapes of Central Australia. Our primary mission is to protect native wildlife through emergency rescue, expert rehabilitation, and successful release back into their natural desert habitats.

We work closely with the Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife Commission, local veterinary clinics, and community partners to maintain high standards of animal welfare. Beyond hands-on animal care, we are committed to community education, raising awareness about regional biodiversity, and training a skilled network of volunteer responders to protect vulnerable species from environmental stress and human impact.

Our entire infrastructure relies on community generosity, corporate support, and strict compliance under the Associations Act 2003 (NT) to provide insurance safety nets and rescue resources for our field operations.

Immediate Critical First Aid

• Minimize Stress: Native animals can die quickly from shock. Keep them in a warm, dark, completely quiet box away from domestic pets, children, and loud noises.
• Strictly No Food or Water: Do not offer any food or water. Native animals have highly specialised diets, and feeding an animal suffering from trauma or shock can be fatal.
• Dead Kangaroos: If a kangaroo or wallaby is dead on the road, check the pouch for a live baby. Do not remove a joey from the teat forcefully; seek immediate phone advice.
